Comcast Launches Adopt-A-Pet On Demand for Local Cable Subscribers

WASHINGTON, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast digital cable subscribers throughout the Washington Metro and Northern Virginia area can now view animals available for adoption at the DC Shelter On Demand. Comcast has teamed up with the Washington Humane Society (WHS) to create Adopt-A-Pet On Demand. Profiles and pictures of dogs and cats in need of a new home are located in the "Our Town" section of Comcast's On Demand library. Viewers can access the profiles at any time and navigate the library with their digital cable remote control.

Comcast recently announced a year-round partnership with the Washington Humane Society and will donate nearly $100,000 of production resources and airtime to promote the work of WHS. In addition to the Adopt-A-Pet On Demand feature, Comcast will produce a series of 5-minute reports to air on CNN Headline News Comcast Local Edition and provide airtime to run four 30-second adoption public service announcements across Comcast's cable network.

ON DEMAND allows Comcast Digital Cable customers to watch programs according to their own schedule. Customers can select from more than 4,000 program choices including children's shows, movies, sports and other favorites at any hour of the day or night. Shows can be paused, rewound and fast- forwarded using the customer's existing remote control, and stored for up to 24 hours for repeat viewing. In 2005, Comcast customers nationwide viewed more than 1.33 billion On Demand programs.
