Anna Wilding's Buddha Movie a 'Surprisingly Pleasant Trip'
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The film "Buddha Wild - Monk in a Hut" by Actress and Director Anna Wilding Premiered at the Laemmle Cinema on Friday 24 March and screens until 30 March 2006. Critic Mark Olsen in the LA Weekly called the film a "surprisingly pleasant trip" with "honesty and integrity." The well crafted and stylish film, which specifically incorporates guerilla news style filmmaking with a traditional narrative feature film style, combines poetic and dramatic elements that make for an entertaining, original and vibrant artistic film.
"Buddha Wild - Monk in a Hut," a "fascinating and beautifully shot small feel good movie," stars an entertaining narration by naturally glamorous Anna Wilding. Wilding's delivery style has been described as "a mixture of seriousness and humor is important contrast to the monk's words." Anna Wilding made specific choices to the style as Director so that the viewer could engage with the monks with the humbleness that is found in a monastery rather than overload the experience with Hollywood gloss. This therefore showed the tone with which the monks and the Asian community go about their daily business. Wilding expresses the joy found in Asian Temple life. "Buddha Wild" is a modest film that subtly discusses issues of war and religion, the role of women in Asia, and at its heart takes us inside the Asian culture and Buddhist missionary life. The film has not been released to festivals.
There will be a Q and A with Anna Wilding Wednesday, 29 March, at Laemmle Fairfax following the 8:00pm showing.
