With Release of 'life,' Patti Pacifico Introduces Digi-Tome Technology

DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Patti Pacifico's life was turned upside down by identity theft in 2005. So Pacifico, then a tenured computer professor at Sinclair Community College, did the only thing she could do: She quit her job, reinvented her life, and created a new technology to document her healing process.

That technology is the digi-tome, an avant-garde digital media created from elements of the film, music and publishing industries produced exclusively for the Web. Pacifico wrote, produced and performed all original content in her own digi-tome, "life" (http://www.pattipacifico.com/, http://www.ereleases.com/pr/2006-pattipacifico.jpg). With the underlying theme that people are smarter than they think, "life" takes the listener through Pacifico's rebirth in all its pain and exhilaration.

"I have never been traditional at anything I do. I had no idea what I was doing when I first created 'life,' but I did know I wanted to represent a rebirth," explained Pacifico, who is a member of AFTRA and just one job away from SAG union status. "Truth is king to me and I believe people can learn from anything dynamic. 'life,' especially, represents the positive and negative of life and the premise that most people are smarter than they think."

But don't file "life" in the self-help section just yet, said Pacifico: "I despise that this will probably be labeled self-help - I don't like some of the connotations associated with this category - because 'life' is really supposed to be a snapshot of life and an expression of what one finds and learns when one decides to change. The final statement is of hope in that we are never alone. I wrote and configured 'life' in an attempt to relate to all people. If their experience offers self-improvement, hooray."

It is likely most people will find something in "life" to which they can relate. The digi-tome uses both humor and gritty realism to portray what was at once a time of intense anxiety and powerful change in Pacifico's life. And "life" transcends Pacifico's unique experience, which is exactly what Pacifico intended for it to do. "life," she says, represents black and white, positive and negative, and everything in between.

Pacifico produced "life" on a tight budget, but that, she says, is the beauty of the digi-tome. "The Internet allows us to create and express ourselves," said Pacifico. "I think being the sole creator of 'life' fulfills the fundamental idea of the Internet. As individuals living in a digital age, we can create and share almost anything for the world."
