On TiVo Top 10 Moments of Games Agony of Defeat Wins Out Over Thrill of Victory

Canadian Skater's Disastrous Fall Is Most Replayed Moment From Torino, Besting Gold Medal Performances by Ohno, Mancuso

ALVISO, Calif., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The TiVo Top 10 Moments of the winter games showed that sometimes spectacular sporting disasters are more interesting than the most inspiring performances, especially in an Olympics that seemed to feature more than its fair share of pratfalls, mishaps and painful disasters.

According to an analysis of aggregate, anonymous data from 20,000 TiVo(R) DVR households, the most memorable and replayed moment of the Turin games was the stunning fall by Canadian skater Marie-France Dubreuil who slammed into the ice after losing her grip in the Ice Dancing competition.

Sasha Cohen's performance in the Short Program that briefly put her in first place in the women's skating competition was the second most popular moment of the games. The gold medal winning performance of U.S. speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno was the only medal winning performance to rank in the top five of the TiVo list.

American skier Julia Mancuso's gold medal winning giant slalom run, coming in at number nine, was the only other gold medal performance to crack the TiVo Top 10 Moments of the Games. Nearly all of the TiVo Top 10 moments involved skating in some way, whether interviews with athletes, or Ice Dancing, Figure or Speed Skating performances and recaps.

The TiVo Top 10 Moments of the winter games were:

1. Canadian skater Marie-France Dubreuil slamming to the ice
2. Sasha Cohen's Short Program performance putting her in first by a
razor thin margin
