inDplay Announces Series A Funding From Media Leaders and William Hearst III and Bill Keating to Join Board of Directors
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- inDplay.com, an online, independent media (film) directory and global licensing and rights management platform, announced today that it received a round of funding from individual investors, notably Eric Schmidt, William Hearst III, Donald Dixon and Rob DeSantis. Financing terms were not disclosed.
Additionally, William Hearst III and Bill Keating have joined inDplay's Board of Directors. Hearst, a long-time supporter of independent film, says, "inDplay is transforming the business of independent film by providing a platform for buyers to more rapidly acquire films and manage their film rights. inDplay will also help filmmakers reach new audiences across established and emerging media distribution platforms."
Keating adds, "Building a fluid marketplace where supply meets demand will have broad ranging implications for the future of entertainment, well beyond the independent film industry, over time." Keating is a founding member of Nekei, a venture catalyst consulting company, and is a 25-year industry veteran. Under his direction, Keating's last seven business ventures have either gone public or been successfully acquired. Bill's operational experience includes venture funding roles at Moxi Digital (sold to Paul Allen) and WebTV (sold to Microsoft) and executive roles at Microsoft TV, General Magic, Rational Software, and Sun.
Building upon the increasing demand for content across territories, and on new platforms, inDplay is creating a secure licensing vehicle that allows buyers of independently produced content to rapidly scale their rights libraries, while enabling sellers to reach new audiences.
Goetz Weber, inDplay's CEO says: "We are working hard to provide the independent media industry with a powerful monetization tool that will drive growth and success for all participants."
