ON VH1 Classic

VH1 Classic presents "VH1 Classic in Concert" featuring Collective Soul: "Home" premiering Friday, February 17 at 9:00 PM. The band's new DVD "Home" contains the bands hits and was taped in their 'home' of Atlanta, Georgia with the help of the 120 piece Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. "VH1 Classic in Concert" showcases live, full-concert performances from some of the greatest names in rock, pop & soul.

The concert will re-air on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 PM and 1:00 AM and Sunday, February 19 at 1:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

On Sunday, February 19 at 9:00 AM VH1 Classic premieres "Hangin' With Collective Soul." Ed Roland and his brother Dean sat down with VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk to discuss their brand new concert DVD, "Home," also available on CD. The group performed an acoustic version of hits including "Shine" and "December."

Then on Monday, February 20 at 9:00 AM VH1 Classic presents an all-new "Headline Act" featuring Run-D.M.C. Revered Run and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels were on-hand to discuss how rap music is seen as a universal language, what made "Walk this Way" a hit. The duo also discussed their expanded "Legacy Editions" compilation CD which includes their self titled debut album "Run D.M.C.," as well as "King of Rock," and "Raising Hell." The second half of "Headline Act" features videos including "King of Rock," "It's Tricky," "Mary Mary" and "Walk This Way featuring Aerosmith."

Darryl McDaniels..."Whatever walk of life you're in, you could relate to what the rappers are talking about cause we only talk about what's real. A lot of rappers don't do what's real, that's why they said 'keep it real.' But we keep it real, rappers, hip hop keeps it real, the hip hop culture keeps it real, and hip hop is just not a black thing. It's a universal thing."

Reverend Run ... "Oh, I don't know what made "Walk This Way" a hit, we just would rap over the first couple of bars of the drums and let a little guitar come in and that was what we did in the 'hood. But when Rick Rubin stepped in and said make the whole record over again, it took it to the next level, I didn't understand rapping those lyrics but I took advice from Russell and Rick."
