Hearst-Argyle Sets Date for Annual Shareholders' Meeting; Announces Appearance at Bear Stearns Conference

NEW YORK, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. (NYSE:HTV) announced today that it will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time, in New York City, for shareholders of record March 17, 2006.

The meeting will be Webcast live in listen-only mode. Parties interested in listening to the Webcast can do so from the Company's Web site, http://www.hearstargyle.com/.

The Company also announced today its participation at the Bear Stearns Media, Entertainment & Information Conference at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, FL. Company management will present on Tuesday, February 28, at 2:15 p.m. Eastern time, and will discuss corporate operations, strategy and outlook.
