TV 20 to Air Inaugural World Baseball Classic

DETROIT, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- TV 20 hits a home run announcing its plans to air the highly anticipated World Baseball Classic on March 10, 12, and 14. The World Baseball Classic is a 16-game tournament featuring many of the best players in the world competing for their home countries and territories for the first time ever. Players with dual citizenship have the option of playing with their current country's team or with their country of origin's team.

The first round of the World Baseball Classic to air on TV 20 will begin at 7:30 p.m. on March 10 with Puerto Rico vs. Cuba. The winner of round one determines who will play the two games in the second round to be aired on TV 20 Sunday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. The assumed second round match-ups for March 12 are Venezuela vs. Cuba and for March 14 are Venezuela vs. Dominican Republic.

The 16 national teams participating include:
- Chinese Taipei - China - Japan
- Korea - Canada - Mexico
- South Africa - USA - Cuba
- Netherlands - Panama - Puerto Rico
- Australia - Venezuela - Italy
- Dominican Republic

Each team will select a roster with a minimum of 27 players, with at least 12 players being pitchers. Those expected to play in the World Baseball Classic from the Detroit Tigers are:

* Jeremy Bonderman - USA
* Carlos Guillen - Venezuela
* Magglio Ordonez - Venezuela
* Ivan "Pudge" Rodriquez - Puerto Rico
* Fernando Rodney - Dominican Republic
* Todd Jones - USA

TV 20 is the television home of the Detroit Pistons. TV 20 will also be airing exciting special programming and sporting events like the World Baseball Classic. Starting in June viewers can look forward to seeing hit shows such as Friends and in August, Scrubs.
