Aspiring Filmmaker Jeremiah Sayys to Finance Low-Budget Feature Film 'House of Prey'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- As anyone in the film industry knows, it's not easy for a first-timer to get a feature film financed in Tinseltown. But that's not stopping Jeremiah Sayys. The 23-year-old aspiring actor and filmmaker plans to write, produce, direct and star in "House of Prey," a low- budget horror film he's determined to make.

Production on "House of Prey" will start in 2008. Sayys's production company, WorldsLastHero Productions, Inc., will finance and represent the project. Part intense thriller, part gore-fest, "House of Prey" tells the story of twelve people forced to fend off a gruesome mass murderer preying on them at a remote house.

"'House of Prey' will be terrifying and tense, with a lot of gore," stated Sayys. "But more importantly, it will tell a story the audience will relate to, with a message that reflects how the world is today. In my opinion, many horror films don't have a story that affects the audience even after they leave the theater. 'House of Prey,' on the other hand, will touch the audience but also have the gore to satisfy them."

Sayys is working on the script for "House of Prey" as he works to secure financing on his debut film, "DeadLands Cry," produced with DeadLands Cry, LLC and co-starring Sayys and Raquel Castro of "Jersey Girl" fame. It is no easy task for anyone, but Sayys is up for the challenge. A member of the Independent Film Alliance and the Film Arts Foundation, he moved from his hometown in Alabama to Los Angeles when he was 21. In the two years since, Sayys has been busy honing his craft: He attended the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, where he studied acting and filmmaking. A method actor, Sayys trained at the Century Playhouse in the Meisner Technique, then privately in the Method Technique, while reading and studying all of Constantin Stanislavski's books. Later he attended the Hollywood Film Institute.

"It is my passion to be an actor/writer/director/producer," said Sayys. "People have told me to stick to one thing, but I disagree. If you love acting and directing and writing and producing, and you want to do those jobs, then there is no reason you can't. I know it will take a lot of work and discipline, which I'm getting a big taste of, but it will be worth it. The true teacher is experience. If I want to be a director, then I'm going to get experience being a director on my own movie, not as a PA on someone else's movie. I believe in myself and I believe in the script for 'House of Prey.'"
