Milwaukee-Based Filmmaker Almost Ready to Release Documentary After Two Years in Production

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Milwaukee-based filmmaker Michael Rozumalski is wrapping up postproduction on his feature-length documentary entitled "5000 Miles." The film follows Rozumalski and his wife, Amy, as they go through the process of international adoption. Filming began in March of 2004 and continued through October 2005. The process took the couple to Poland where they eventually adopted a 17-month-old girl.

"5000 Miles" is a first-of-its-kind documentary in that never before has anyone followed the entire process of international adoption in the detail that the filmmaker has. "It got to be somewhat intrusive at times, but we knew we were making an important film," Rozumalski says. "We wanted to make sure everyone who watched the film understood the raw emotion involved in using adoption to build your family, the ups and the downs."

The documentary, which runs approximately 76 minutes, has a $100,000 price tag and Rozumalski hopes it will be well-received at upcoming film festivals around the world: "We've had a lot of positive feedback from organizations that have viewed rough cuts of the film and we think anyone who has or wants children will be able to relate to '5000 Miles.'"

Currently, audio editing and original music composition are being completed at Tanner Music, Inc. and the scheduled completion date is January 31, 2006.
