Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Announces Enormous Success of Garth Brooks: The Limited Series Boxed Set Prompts Feb. 7 Release of Separate CD
New Release Will Feature Six New Tracks Including Duet With Trisha Yearwood
BENTONVILLE, Ark., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Record sales of last November's release of Garth Brooks: The Limited Series boxed set prompted Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) to announce today that it will make Brooks' newest CD release, The Lost Sessions, individually available Feb. 7 with six additional previously recorded unreleased tracks. The six new tracks include a duet, "Love Will Always Win," with new wife Trisha Yearwood, the first duet for the newlyweds since their December wedding.
"We are thrilled with how Wal-Mart customers have embraced Garth and this boxed set," said Wal-Mart vice president David Porter. "To be able to bring them additional, new Garth Brooks releases is exciting -- especially when it includes this amazing duet with Trisha Yearwood -- it's a great way to kick- off the new year!"
Garth Brooks: The Limited Series boxed set has created record-breaking results at Wal-Mart and Walmart.com (http://www.walmart.com/ ) since November. It became the fastest selling media title on Walmart.com, sold more than half a million copies on its first day of sales and hit the one million sales mark in its second week of availability.
The launch of the single CD, The Lost Sessions, is the company's second exclusive project with Brooks. The new release features 17 total tracks -- 11 tracks previously unavailable prior to November's boxed set release including Brooks' new Billboard Country Chart #1 single, "Good Ride Cowboy," the duet with Yearwood and five new, previously recorded unreleased tracks.
The Lost Sessions will be available for $11.88 beginning Feb. 7 at all Wal-Mart stores, SAM'S CLUB locations and Walmart.com.
Wal-Mart became the official destination for all Garth Brooks music when the exclusive agreement was announced last year. In addition to bringing customers new material from Brooks, Wal-Mart will also offer digitally re-mastered versions of several of Brooks' previous releases for $9.72. Those titles include Garth Brooks, No Fences, Ropin' the Wind, The Chase, In Pieces, Fresh Horses, Sevens and Scarecrow. These re-mastered versions will be available at all Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB locations beginning in February.
