Buck Howdy Says, 'Pass the Buck;' Download and Share Songs from His Newest Award-Winning CD 'GIDDYUP!'

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- While the rest of the music industry fights free internet downloads and peer-to-peer sharing, Buck Howdy, the King of Kids' Cowboy Music, is bucking the trend, encouraging his fans to download his music for free -- then to "Pass the Buck" to their friends. Buck's free download program launched last week at www.buckhowdy.com. Already, more than 10,000 visitors have dropped by his home-on-the-internet-range.

Howdy, who will perform at the White House Easter Egg Roll in April, is offering 10 songs from his new CD GIDDYUP! It's been charting on Billboard's top 25 internet sales list since November and was just selected by the American Library Association as one of the 25 most "Notable Recordings for Children of 2006." GIDDYUP! has also won a Dove Family Approved seal of quality. Buck has performed at the White House two previous times and at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. His previous CD, Skidaddle! (MCA Nashville), won numerous awards and acclaim. He has appeared three times on the holiday music television special, "Carols By Candlelight" and hosts his own nationally syndicated radio program Cow Pie Radio.

At Buck's website (www.buckhowdy.com), fans can download the free songs as well as a special cover and traycard.

There is one itty bitty catch. As Buck explains, "You have to promise to share my music with at least two people, and those people have to promise to share it with more people and on and on, because I convinced Mrs. Howdy that once folks hear these 10 songs, they'll rush out and buy the store version with ALL 14 songs."

Back at Buck's farm in rural Virginia, Mrs. Howdy thinks her husband has gone plum loco, leaving Buck worried he might be sleeping in the barn sometime soon. But he is hoping that the "Pass the Buck" campaign will create a constantly multiplying awareness of his all-ages music.

GIDDYUP! features a rousing mix of Western, bluegrass and country style tunes. The seven original Buck Howdy songs and seven other tracks appeal to kids of all ages. Guest stars Trout Fishing in America and Laurie Berkner join for three of the sing-alongs.
