NeoMagic(R) Corporation Announces Mobile Digital TV Solution Across Industry Broadcast Standards

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeoMagic Corporation (NASDAQ:NMGC), a leader and pioneer in developing and delivering very low-power solutions for multimedia-rich mobile phones and handheld devices, announced today the immediate delivery of its Mobile Digital Television solution using its flagship product, MiMagic 6+. NeoMagic's Mobile Digital Television solution is available now for the ISDB-T mobile broadcast protocol, with each of the other major broadcast protocols, DMB (including DAB), and DVB-H available to customers in early 2006.

"Delivering NeoMagic's solution for high-quality, high-frame rate mobile digital TV to any handheld device immediately moves us ahead of the competition," said Mr. Doug Young, NeoMagic Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our MiMagic 6+ chip delivers a broadcast mobile digital television solution, ending handset manufacturers' and mobile operators' wait for this exciting new marketplace to develop. Our customers can choose the mobile television protocol best suited to their needs. As an example, we have produced a working platform for ISDB-T broadcasts, which are slated to go live in Japan by 2Q 2006. Our DVB-H and DMB solutions will enable and support flexible designs for various broadcast standards across the Americas, Asia and Europe."

These solutions address the need for handset manufacturers to get to market quickly with a complete, standards-based mobile solution-set. NeoMagic plans to announce other mobile TV solution delivery partners early in the first quarter of 2006 and demonstrate its mobile TV capabilities at 3GSM World Congress in February.

NeoMagic's Leadership

NeoMagic is unique among solution providers with an audio/video decoder solution handling simultaneous H.264 video and audio decoding at low power consumption today. H.264, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 Advanced Video Codec, is the latest video standard providing best-of-breed video compression efficiencies, while maintaining the impressive image quality that is key to a superior "front of screen" experience. The success of mobile digital TV depends on this experience, and H.264 is being used in several broadcast regions around the world. The Company's solution for H.264 video decoding in a digital mobile TV phone was first demonstrated at the 2004 CEATEC show in Japan.

In addition, NeoMagic's mobile digital TV solution also encompasses the Microsoft (R) Windows Media Video (WMV) codec, and will be shown at 3GSM World Congress in early 2006. Also known as VC01, Microsoft's solution is a high quality video codec of choice for a growing number of broadcast mobile digital TV regions.
