Siren Systems Announces Close of $2.3M Series A Financing
Leading Provider of Music Search and Recommendation Products Raises First Round of Funding
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Siren Systems, Inc., the leading provider of song-level search, navigation, and recommendation products for the consumer and professional music markets, announced today that it has closed $2.3 Million in Series A financing. The round was lead by Amicus Capital, with Nueva Ventures and others participating. The company has also named Don Hutchison, a successful early-stage investor and business advisor, to its board of directors.
"The market for digital music is exploding, creating a need to assist people in sifting through the millions of songs available online to find songs they might like," said Bob Zipp, managing partner of Amicus Capital. "Siren Systems has developed a solution that works, and that addresses the varied needs of music consumers, music industry professionals, and the many download stores, subscription services, and music-oriented communities that have emerged over the past couple of years. We see attractive market opportunities for their products, and are pleased to be an investor."
Developed over five years of extensive research and development, Siren Systems' Soundflavor(TM) Engine is the only technology which combines precise, song-level advanced search, navigation, and personalized recommendations in one package. The Soundflavor Engine is powered by a proprietary database of musical attributes, collected song-by-song by Siren Systems' team of trained music analysts. The product conducts a deep analysis of these attributes -- ranging from instrumentation to subject matter -- for any song a user provides, and recommends new music specifically for that person. Even a music connoisseur will discover new music via the Soundflavor Engine.
In October, the company announced a landmark deal with Ricall Ltd., the world's leading music research and licensing network, to integrate the Soundflavor Engine into Ricall's website. When launched, creative professionals will be able to use the product to quickly find and license songs to match any mood or setting.
According to Steve Skrzyniarz, CEO of Siren Systems, the proceeds of the round will be used to accelerate the creation of new products, expand the team, and enhance its infrastructure to handle increasing demand.
