NBC 5 Delivers North Texas' Most Watched Newscast

North Texans Go Online for Breaking News Coverage and Daily Netcasts

DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- KXAS / NBC 5 News at 10pm is North Texas' #1 choice for news according to the just completed November ratings period. NBC 5's newscast has dominated the late evening news time period for four consecutive years.

NBC 5 maintained its #1 position by providing up-to-the-minute news coverage and listening to viewers concerns about fuel costs, the economy and saving money over the holiday season. What mattered to viewers was consumer news about how to find savings on gifts, credit card fees, holiday meals, and decorations.

nbc5i.com continues to be an increasingly popular source for news, weather, sports, traffic and entertainment on the internet 24/7. From their desktops at home or at work, users experience daily netcasts each weekday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. plus breaking news as it happens.

November Highlights:

* NBC 5 News at 10:00pm consistently grew audience from its prime time
lead-in programming. On average, NBC 5 gained nearly 12,000 households
each evening, while the area's second place newscast lost an average of
81,000 households each night. Consistently growing audience into
NBC 5's 10 p.m. newscast demonstrates the dedication of the NBC 5
viewer to quality programming and reflects their willingness to seek
out Dallas-Fort Worth's #1 newscast four years running.

* NBC 5 First @ 4pm rose to #1 besting the competition by 25% with a
newly formatted newscast anchored by Kristi Nelson and Brian Curtis.
NBC 5 First @ 4pm offers a fast paced look at the day's news along with
informative reports about better living.

* NBC 5 DFW Today at 10 a.m. each weekday continues to gain audience
growing from third place one year ago to tie for #1 in November 2005.

* NBC 5 News Today continues to be a favorite of North Texans each
morning from 6-7 a.m. besting other local morning newscasts in eight of
the last twelve months.

* NBC 5 News at 5pm is closing in on #1. The newscast gained a full
rating point on the competition since the May ratings period, over
23,000 households.

* A steadily growing NBC 5 News at 6pm finished only seven tenths of a
rating point from #1 versus November 2004 when the newscast was second
by 2.6 rating points.

point of the nearest network news competition at 5:30 p.m. each weekday
and is the first network evening newscast to be available via the
internet. NBC Nightly Netcast, a replay of NBC Nightly News premiered
on the MSNBC.com in early November.

funeral service in Rhode Island, on November 21st.

* nbc5i.com's website welcomed over 900,000 unique visitors in
October 2005 (latest available data) and continues to regularly add new

* NBC 5 continued its commitment to stopping identity theft throughout
November. Investigative reporter Grant Stinchfield's "IDENTITY CRISIS"
reports provided useful information to viewers interested in protecting
themselves from criminals. Stinchfield profiled a woman who was falsely
jailed for writing hot checks after her identity was stolen. He also
showed viewers the careless and simple way credit cards are distributed
with the story of a dog given a credit card.

* NBC 5 held its second SHRED IT DAY, and hundreds of North Texans took
part in the free event at locations in Plano and Arlington. By
shredding the personal information that identity thieves need, NBC 5
viewers took an important step to keep their identities safe.
