Sal Maniaci Named Senior Vice President, Development & Original Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite

NEW YORK, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sal Maniaci has been promoted to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Development and Original Production for TV Land and Nick at Nite, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite.

Maniaci, who will report directly to Jones in his new position, will continue to be based in New York and will oversee the creation, development and execution of original programming and production for TV Land and Nick at Nite. Maniaci has been instrumental in launching the originals agenda on both networks and TV Land and Nick at Nite have substantially increased original content since Maniaci joined the networks two years ago.

On TV Land, Maniaci is responsible for such critically-acclaimed and highly-rated programs as the annual TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV featuring celebrities from television, music and film bestowing special tribute awards to some of television's most beloved series and stars; Chasing Farrah, which followed the real-life happenings of iconic actress and sex symbol, Farrah Fawcett and was watched by approximately 30 million people over the run of the series; an annual special produced in partnership with TV Guide that counts down monumental moments on television including the upcoming December 5th premiere of TV Guide and TV Land Present: The 100 Most Unexpected Moments in Television a five-part special, as well as Still Brady After All These Years and The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited, both of which garnered Emmy nominations for Maniaci.

On Nick at Nite, Maniaci developed the hit hidden camera series Hi-Jinks, which averages an audience of over two million viewers per week; Nick at Nite's Search for the Funniest Mom in America -- a national contest in search of the next Roseanne -- and Fatherhood, a show based on Bill Cosby's best- selling book of the same name. Nick at Nite is one of cable's highest-rated networks among such coveted demos as Adults 18-49, Women 18-49, Adults 18-34 and African Americans 18-49 and is also pacing to have its most watched year ever among total viewers, up 13% over last year.

Maniaci previously served as Vice President, Development and Production for TV Land and Nick at Nite. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Current Series and Sports Production for The New TNN (now known as Spike TV). Prior to TNN, Maniaci was Vice President of Current Series at Nickelodeon where he was instrumental in the success of such hit properties as Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show and the annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, among others. Maniaci joined Nickelodeon in 1994.

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, he worked at Lifetime Television as Director of Production overseeing the network's then-signature talk show, Attitudes, as well as the network's series of comedy specials. Earlier, he worked on the ABC informational series FYI after starting out his career as a Page at CBS.

Maniaci currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Katie, and their two children.
