New Movie: 'Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price' to Premiere in Madison Heights
WakeUpWalMart.com Supporters to Hold Movie Screenings All Across America
during Wal-Mart Week (November 13-19)
Supporters of WakeUpWalMart.com, America's leading campaign to change Wal- Mart will hold their first local screening of the controversial new film by Robert Greenwald, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price." The movie will premiere in Madison Heights tomorrow as part of a growing grassroots effort to build public pressure on Wal-Mart to change into a responsible corporation.
The screening, hosted by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 876, is a critical part of "Wal-Mart Week," a national week of action in which well over 3,000 screenings will be held in cities and towns all across America from November 13-19. Supporters of WakeUpWalMart.com will be partnering with a wide coalition of community, religious, and civic groups who are joining together as part of the growing movement to change Wal-Mart.
Following the screening, attendees will take part in an open discussion about the effect Wal-Mart is having on local families, the community, and the nation. Strategies and tactics activists and community leaders can employ to build public pressure on Wal-Mart to change will also be discussed. The landmark grassroots screening and discussion will be open to all local press and media.
