Kelly Clarkson Wins Two AMAs for 'Adult Contemporary Favorite Artist' and 'Artist of the Year - the T-Mobile Text in Award'

Santana, Eurythmics and Sarah McLachlan Receive Standing Ovations for Stellar Performances

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- RCA Music Group artists Kelly Clarkson, Carlos Santana, Eurythmics and Sarah McLachlan made their marks as winners and performers at last night's 33rd Annual American Music Awards at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

RCA Records' artist Kelly Clarkson won two AMAs for "Adult Contemporary Favorite Artist" and "Artist of Year -- The T-Mobile Text In Award," a special award selected by fans who voted for the past month and throughout the live telecast on ABC.com and via their T-Mobile phones.

Beating out competition including Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Green Day, Toby Keith and Gwen Stefani for "Artist of the Year" is proof positive why Kelly Clarkson's album, Breakaway, is an international smash-hit with critical acclaim, and nearing quadruple platinum sales in the states, and 5.5 million albums worldwide. The album also spawned an astounding four #1 hits including "Breakaway," "Since You've Been Gone," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," and "Because of You," making Kelly the undisputed champion of the Top 40 charts for 2005.

The show's highlights included performances by Arista Records' artists Carlos Santana, Eurythmics and Sarah McLachlan, all whom received standing ovations. Santana's performance of "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" with Los Lonely Boys from his current album All That I Am, which debuted at #2 on Billboard's 200 album chart, elicited cheers from the audience when he broke into a guitar solo. Eurythmics graced the stage with their new single "I've Got A Life" and then a medley of their chart-topping hits -- "Missionary Man" and "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" -- all which are featured on their current cd, Eurythmics Ultimate Collection. Sarah McLachlan joined one of her musical influences Cyndi Lauper for a classic rendition of Lauper's hit "Time After Time."

Pop/R&B crooner Babyface was also a part of the AMAs as he presented the most outstanding and memorable moments from previous AMAs during the Kay Jewelers Diamond Lounge segment.
