NEW YORK, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Salvation Army, the nation's largest charity, will kick off its annual Red Kettle Christmas Holiday Campaign, the nation's largest holiday charitable fundraising drive, with the Dallas Cowboys during their Thanksgiving Day game. Each year the Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army encourage Americans to help those less fortunate by donating to The Salvation Army Red Kettles throughout the holiday season.

This year, Sheryl Crow will be the headline performer for the nationally televised 2005 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign Kickoff on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, at Texas Stadium. All funds raised will assist The Salvation Army in providing meaningful assistance to millions of individuals, needy families, children, and seniors across America.

From assisting hurricane survivors to combating substance abuse, the Red Kettle campaign helped more than 34 million people recovering from many kinds of personal disasters. Money donated through the Red Kettles raised $102 million in 2004 with the help of 25,000 volunteers. Over the last eight years the Dallas Cowboys have helped the Salvation Army raise $800 million through the Red Kettle Campaign.
