Johnny Cash Tribute Concert and Benefit Set for Nov. 20, 2005
NJ Musicians Unite Along With Special Guest Artemis Recording Artist Jeffrey Gaines at Centro Nightclub, South Amboy, NJ, 6 p.m.
SOUTH AMBOY, N.J., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, November 20, 2005, over fifty of NJ's finest musicians will gather for a musical celebration to honor the one and only Johnny Cash, a man whose music has touched all of us deeply. This rare tribute show has been titled:
JOHNNY CASH REMEMBERED - "A Tribute to the Man in Black"
The show's organizer Michael Patrick, a recognized NJ country/roots performer, has been a long-time Johnny Cash fan.
Having been inspired by recent announcements of the upcoming movie release for "Walk the Line" (the Johnny Cash story featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon), in addition to receiving requests for quotes for media tie-ins about the "Cash influence," Patrick set out to create a concert to help keep Johnny's legacy alive and well in NJ.
He has teamed up with Mr. Bob Makin, founder of the charitable foundation "Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares" (an organization creating music mentorship and scholarship programs for New Jersey's Children). Although this event has been months of planning in the making, the two men share the same passion and excitement for "The Man in Black" and his music, and this has made it lots of fun and well-worth the effort.
Patrick will be appearing with his band "The Suburban Hillbillies" and has invited many of his musical friends and local legends to join him for an evening featuring an eclectic and diverse mix of Cash music and stylings.
In addition to the very special featured guest, Artemis recording artist Jeffrey Gaines, this monumental show will include performances by the following notable Jersey-based bands and artists:
Michael Patrick & The Suburban Hillbillies, Matt Angus Thing, Pat Guadagno & The Candle Brothers, Jon Caspi Band, Bob Polding Band, Rob Dye Band, Kevin McGowan, BBQ Bob, Tony Pileggi, Arlan Feiles & many more.
Show organizers are also expecting a few legendary special guests to stop by and show their support.
The show's format will include mostly Cash covers spanning the entire length of his career (including the Sun Years) in addition to some original material by some of NJ's most deserving up-and-coming artists. Sponsors include: Colts Neck Custom Shop, NJ Country Music Association, and Upstage Magazine.
The exciting event will take place at Centro Nightclub in South Amboy, NJ. Centro is a large venue and continues to be one of the few clubs in the state that still support country music.
This concert will benefit Red Cross hurricane relief efforts in addition to the "Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares" Fund. There will be vendors on hand, prizes and giveaways, as well as vintage videos projected on large screens around the room.
