Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Sullivan Homes Team Up To Bring a Happy Thanksgiving to a Special Idaho Family
Home to be built in one week for Eric Hebert (dad), Kyler (nephew) and Keeley
(niece) in Sandpoint, Idaho
November 12, 2005 (Sandpoint, Idaho) - This time of year is filled with giving thanks and Sullivan Homes (www.sullivanhomes.com) and valued trade partners are spending this week giving of themselves to ensure a very deserving family in Sandpoint comes home to a happy Thanksgiving. ABC-TV's hit show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" selected the Hebert family to receive a new home in an episode that will air in 2006. This morning, Ty Pennington and his design team knocked on the door to deliver the happy news to a very deserving family.
When Eric Hebert got the unexpected call that his sister, Francine Hebert, had died, leaving her twin children orphaned, he stepped up in a BIG way. Eric was living a bachelor life in Montana and only saw his family in Idaho once a year. But all that changed in April of 2004, when at 37 years old, Francine became the third person in Eric's family to die of a heart attack as both his mother and father had passed away when Eric was just 16. Recognizing that his niece and nephew could end up in the foster system, Eric packed up his belongings and became a parent overnight.
When Eric arrived in Idaho to take custody of Kyler and Keeley, he was amazed to find they were living in total squalor in their rundown trailer. Eric soon bought the only home he could afford which was a "Berm House"; essentially a daylight basement with a roof on it. With just a few windows and one entrance, this home often felt more like a dungeon.
A leading builder of custom and upscale homes in Washington and Idaho, Sullivan Homes was a natural fit for the job of providing this family with a fresh start. "When I got the initial phone call to help out, my world changed. It's a huge challenge to build a house in seven days and requires hundreds of partners and volunteers to come together in a very short period of time," said Todd Sullivan, President of Sullivan Homes. "When I heard the story of this family, I couldn't say no. Sullivan Homes couldn't be more honored to take on this challenge."
In this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", this bachelor turned instant-father will get much-needed help in achieving his dream for his new children. Companies like Sullivan Homes will work for the next seven days to give these families a new foundation on life.
"Our entire team at Sullivan Homes feels blessed to be a part of this extraordinary event," says Sullivan. "We specialize in building high-quality homes for people and families in Washington and Idaho, but it's not every day you get the chance to change lives in such a positive way. For everyone involved, this will be a very special Thanksgiving - one we won't soon forget."
The "Hebert Family episode" on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is scheduled to air on ABC-TV in 2006. For more details, visit http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/index.html.
