Country Music Star Mindy McCready Has New Lease on Life

Country Music Star Mindy McCready Has New Lease on Life

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Mindy McCready is no stranger to controversy. After a tumultuous year filled with legal troubles, a disturbing domestic violence episode, and two suicide attempts, the country music star is on the road back to recovery, both personally and professionally.

"I'm not looking back anymore," McCready said. "I've got so much to live for and things are rapidly improving for me, too." McCready noted that her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey TV Show was a watershed moment for her. "I realized I could be free of all the relationships that kept me in pain. I just decided that I'm moving on," she said.

McCready has appeared on Larry King Live on Friday night (November 11th, CNN) to discuss her troubled relationship with fellow country music singer Billy McKnight. McCready is several months pregnant with McKnight's child.

McCready released a new website this week (http://www.mindy.tv/) and has finished a new single with producer Jimmy Nichols. "I'm in the studio again, working on a new project called 'Black and Blue.' My first single is on our website already and we are donating a portion of the proceeds to help people affected by domestic violence."

McCready said she will sign each copy of the single, with shipments of the CD slated to go out around the first week of December. "It's important for me to speak up and say something," McCready said. "As much as I didn't want to be the poster child for something like domestic violence, I realize that being in my position can actually help a lot of people who are in the same situation," she said. "I'm compelled to come forward and talk about my life in the hopes that it will give someone else the strength to walk away from their painful relationships."

The blonde bombshell musician, singer of several country hits promises that Nashville hasn't seen the last of her, despite her recent legal and personal woes. "I owe it to my family, friends, and fans to look in the mirror and take the first steps in fixing my life. God has given me a new lease on my life, and I intend to live it out to the fullest."
