Cavalier Telephone Launches Largest Mid Atlantic Broadband TV Network

'Richmond, Virginia to See New Technology First'

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavalier Telephone announced today that it will offer a full suite of video products to customers beginning in Richmond, Virginia this December. The service offering, called Cavalier Broadband TV, will allow users to receive 150 digital video and music channels, a full featured interactive program guide, on-screen caller ID, and digital set top boxes. Cavalier is the first provider in the United States to introduce the new "MPEG4" video technology, which allows video to be sent over Cavalier's existing fiber optic Broadband ADSL2+ network.

Cavalier's Broadband TV service offering will be bundled with existing Telephone and Broadband internet service. Cavalier's "Triple Play" will offer local and long distance phone service, high speed DSL internet and 150 channels, all for $95 a month. "Our customers are looking for value and a $50 per month savings is substantial," stated Cavalier CEO Brad Evans. "We intend to go head-to-head with existing cable & satellite firms showcasing our superior picture quality and network reliability," commented Evans.

In greater Richmond, Cavalier will leverage its existing broadband network which delivers downloads speeds of up to 15mbps to households. Cavalier will offer its new video service to all customers within reach of its high speed network, estimated at over 150,000 homes passed.

Cavalier intends to rollout video services in its other markets, including; Norfolk, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Delaware and Northern Virginia in the coming months. When completed Cavalier will be in front of two million homes with its Triple Play service.

"We are confident that Cavalier is at the forefront of voice, video and data services, and that our existing IP infrastructure allows us to move at a faster pace than our competition. We think the real winner in this will be customers that will be presented with better choices and greater value than ever before," said Vice President of Product Management and Marketing, Andy Lobred.

Cavalier Telephone will continue to enhance its Broadband TV offerings with additional applications to provide customers with even more entertainment and convenience. With IP technology, it is now practical to bring web mail, internet access and streaming video to the television set.
