Turner's GameTap Previews at U.S. Download Festival

GameTap is Presenting Sponsor of First U.S. Download Music Festival; GameTap On Hand for Thousands of Concert-Goers to Access

ATLANTA, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Music fans attending the U.S. Premier of the UK's Download Festival will also get their hands on an American original: Turner Broadcasting System's GameTap (www.gametap.com) broadband entertainment network. Appearing live at the GameTap Gaming Den, the network will bring hundreds of great game titles to broadband-connected PCs. GameTap will be the presenting sponsor of the festival, a blend of music and technology that is making its only stateside appearance this October.

The Download Festival will take place near San Francisco at the Shoreline Amphitheater on Saturday, October 8, 2005. Headliners will include The Killers, Modest Mouse, Doves, H.I.M. and Arcade Fire. Tickets went on sale on Sunday, July 31, 2005. Festival information can be found at www.downloadfestival.com.

Visitors to GameTap's Game Den will be among the first to get their hands on some of the games that will be available on GameTap at launch. The first network of its kind, GameTap allows subscribers to access a large vault of games, from the early arcade greats all the way through console games and hit PC titles, using a broadband-connected PC.

GameTap games at launch will include everything from Pong, Pac-Man and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, to Sonic and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Turner has licensed nearly 1,000 games from 17 publishers, including Activision, Atari, Eidos Interactive, G-Mode, Intellivision Lives, Midway, Namco, SEGA, TAITO, Team 17, Ubisoft and Vivendi Universal Games.

"The Download Festival audience is uniquely plugged in to the latest technology, and uniquely passionate about the music they love," said Bruce Eskowitz, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Properties. "That means that sponsors have the opportunity to connect brands with truly meaningful experiences on multiple platforms for a highly influential audience."

Leaping on to the UK festival calendar in 2003, the Download Festival premiered with Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Audioslave, and Zwan. Last year's festival at Donnington Park in the U.K. drew over 80,000 festival-goers.
