LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The secret is out -- internationally renowned singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer David Pack's new solo album, The Secret Of Movin' On, was released this week (August 9) on Concord/Peak Records. The long-awaited disc's arrival was preceded by the success of the album's two different lead singles -- culled from eleven stellar tracks -- each having major Top 30 debuts at two completely separate radio formats.
Featuring a vibrant vocal duet between David and Heart's Anne Wilson, the title track, "The Secret Of Movin' On (Travelin' Light)," debuted at #29 on the A/C Monitored Chart for Adult Contemporary format, with airplay at over 40 stations. At Smooth Jazz radio, Pack's sleek solo reinvention of the 1980 Ambrosia classic "You're The Only Woman" debuted at #24, and was the #3 most added track at the format its second week out. The album's repertoire also features stunning vocal duets with Steve Perry ("A Brand New Start") and Timothy B. Schmit ("Where We Started From") as well as another inspired update of an Ambrosia classic, "Biggest Part Of Me."
Pack first rose to fame as main composer and frontman for the hit-making pop and progressive rock band Ambrosia. He's since become recognized as one of music's top producers, with credits including Patti Austin, Natalie Cole, Phil Collins, Andrae Crouch, Aretha Franklin, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Linda Ronstadt and many other stars. Pack has also composed extensively for film and television, and produced and music-directed global stage events, including ones for both of President Clinton's inaugurals.
First and foremost one of contemporary music's most distinctive and recognizable voices, Pack returns to the recording arena with an emotionally powerful, self-produced work. Deeply felt and richly textured, The Secret Of Movin' On was born out of the artist's intense personal journey and life-changing experiences of the last few years, and is driven as well by his deepening spiritual commitment. The album also relies on advice David absorbed from his longtime friends and mentors Quincy Jones and the late Leonard Bernstein. "They taught me to understand," says Pack, "that musically, all great things start with a song... a great song is like discovering a secret code that you can share with the world."
David shares his immense talents on The Secret Of Movin' On in a way that would make his mentors proud. Later this year, he will also be featured on country star Billy Dean's forthcoming Curb Records Christmas album The Christ -- Pack duets with Dean on the track "Mary Did You Know."
