Mediabase and Universal Music Group Renew Long-Term Agreement

- World's Largest Music Company Secures Agreement for U.S. and Canada With Prominent Radio Information Company -

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Mediabase and Universal Music Group (UMG) announced today that they have renewed their long-term agreement whereby Mediabase will continue providing radio airplay research to UMG's market-leading family of subsidiary recording labels. The radio airplay research is derived from Mediabase's "Music Information Systems," a package of products and services that includes "Mediabase 24/7," Radio & Records' "Music Tracking System," "Add Tracker," "National Callout Research," "Rate the Music" and more. Through these computerized systems, UMG is able to accurately track the frequency of its artists' music being played on radio throughout the United States and Canada.

"This is a very satisfying deal on every level," commented Mediabase President, Rich Meyer. "This arrangement is a fitting tribute to all the researchers and programmers who work around the clock to produce the best airplay research in the industry, and to the executives at UMG who know how to use it to its fullest benefit. Everyone wins with this long-term partnership."

"Mediabase has quickly grown into becoming UMG's premiere airplay tracking service in both the U.S. and Canada," stated Vincent Freda, UMG's Executive Vice President of Digital Logistics and Business Services. "And as Mediabase continues to expand its suite of services with features such as secure access to digital music, they will play an even larger part in supporting and furthering our mandate to break dynamic new artists and deliver the most compelling music."
