'Palmetto Pointe' Calls Up Veteran Record Producer John Poppo to Produce Music for the Hot New Teen Drama

Poppo adds 'Palmetto Pointe' Music Producer and Supervisor to his long list of credits including producing/engineering such hit artists as *NSYNC, Mariah Carey, Madonna, LMNT, Chris Trousdale (Dreamstreet) and Michael Jackson

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- "Palmetto Pointe," one of the most talked about new teen dramas on TV this fall, today announced that veteran record producer, songwriter, composer and engineer John Poppo will come on board as Music Producer and Supervisor for the show. The series premiere for "Palmetto Pointe" airs at 8 p.m., Sunday, August 28th, on i Independent Television.

During his colorful 20 year career Poppo has been associated with some of the best artists in the business and his name can be found in the credits of countless hits ranging from *NSYNC, LMNT and Chris Trousdale (Dreamstreet) to Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and Seal to name a few. He also serves as Trustee for the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy (GRAMMY Awards).

"I'm very excited to be a part of this great new show," said Poppo. "I simply got swept up by the excitement, passion and momentum of the show and its producers. I've been in the music business for a long time and I can't remember the last time I was around this much positive and creative energy."

"Palmetto Pointe" Executive Producer Tim Casey said, "John brings an enormous amount of experience, expertise and resources to the show. The addition of him and his company (Pop Productions Inc.) to our show's already impressive crew of talent will surely take it to an even higher level."

"Music plays a huge role in how a show grabs and pulls in the viewer. It's an integral part of a show's success," said Brent Lovell, one of the lead actors and producers of the show. "We're very familiar with his work and once we met him, we knew we had to get him."

As Music Producer and Supervisor, Poppo will also write songs and compose music for the show.

This Sunday's pilot episode introduces us to Tristan Sutton (played by Tim Woodward, Jr., who is also one of the show's producers), who after the death of his parents leaves his hometown of Palmetto Pointe to play baseball, hoping to fulfill his dream of one day playing in the big leagues. Now, three months later, he has returned with a minor league team, playing in the town he hoped never to return to. On his way to pitching a no-hitter, Tristan is forced to deal with all that he left behind: family, friends, his first love and a mysterious new girl that catches his eye.

For six friends, the journey of life will be long and hard, but these young adults will be shaped by their memories. "It is the end of everything right and the beginning of everything real."

"Palmetto Pointe" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on i Independent Television (formerly PAX TV) which reaches more than 85% of US households via nationwide broadcast television, cable and satellite.
