All in a Day: Mobile and Wireless Symposium Plus the Rolling Stones
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology executives who love rock and roll will soon have the ultimate opportunity to mix business with pleasure in Charlottesville, Virginia. On Thursday October 6, The Virginia Piedmont Technology Council (VPTC) is hosting its second annual Fall Symposium, focusing on "Mobile Applications and Wireless Networking: Understanding and Evaluating the Technology." In the evening, some conference attendees will go to the Rolling Stones concert at the University of Virginia.
"When we learned that the concert was going to be on the same day as the Fall Symposium, we considered inviting attendees to 'Get Wireless and Get Satisfaction,'" joked VPTC Executive Director Gail Milligan. "Seriously, though, it's a great opportunity to get the latest on mobile and wireless applications, and rock 'n roll -- all in one day. It's the ultimate business trip."
The 2005 VPTC event will be held Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville. The Symposium is designed for large and small enterprises, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and government agencies who are investigating, developing and using Mobile Applications and Wireless Technology.
"Wireless technologies like WiFi, 3G, VoIP, and wireless Internet access are providing businesses with new ways to innovate," said Bill Clark, Program Co-chair and Vice President for Business Development at Syclo LLC. "The Fall Symposium will give technical and non-technical business people a better understanding of mobile technology, and the tools they need to achieve the promise of mobile and wireless."
The symposium will support two tracks -- Mobility Applications and Wireless Technology -- one focused on business, the other on the technology. The program will feature keynotes, concurrent specialized sessions, as well as small group tutorials. Session topics will include: The Mobile Field Force, Wireless for the Road Warrior; Voice over Internet Protocol/Voice over WiFi Mobile Data; A WiMax Debate -- What will our wireless neighborhood look like in 2010?; The Right Device for Your Business; M2M (Machine2Machine) and the Future of Mesh Networking; and more.
The event is expected to draw over three hundred attendees and more than two dozen exhibitors. Sponsors include Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology, Defywire, NTELOS, Nortel, Nextel, and Research in Motion (BlackBerry). Exhibitors include Motorola and Cisco. In addition, the technology innovators slated to participate include many industry leaders.
Although the Stones concert has been sold out for some time now, e-Bay makes it possible to score tickets to the show. However, seats are still available for the VPTC 2005 Fall Symposium. Online registration is available at http://www.vptcfallsymposium.com/. Early-Bird (before September 23) registration fees are $145 for VPTC Members and $195 for Non-Members.
