WXYZ-TV Celebrates 26th Anniversary of 'Brightest & Best' Salute To High School Seniors on Saturday, May 21

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 will pay tribute to over 250 high school seniors from throughout Southeast Michigan in its 26th annual celebration of the "Brightest & Best" on Saturday, May 21.

Since 1980, the station has honored graduating seniors from public and private schools who have demonstrated excellence in academic, extracurricular and community pursuits. The program has honored over 4,000 high school seniors in its 26-year history, making it the longest-running program of its kind in the Detroit market.

"As the years pass, the significance of this event grows as I watch so many promising young adults pursue their dreams with strong determination. It's a joy to be able to recognize their tremendous achievements," said Channel 7 Vice President & General Manager Grace Gilchrist.

WXYZ-TV will host the "Brightest & Best" at a special picnic on the grounds of Broadcast House in Southfield, at which time promotional spots will be taped featuring students and Channel 7 personalities. The spots will air on the station throughout the summer months. "Brightest & Best" is sponsored by Big Boy Restaurants International, LLC & Oakland University.
