Best known for his alternative rock/punk music, Rollins began his career with hardcore punk pioneers, Black Flag. He toured and recorded with the group until they disbanded in 1986. The following year, he reappeared with the Rollins Band, where he recorded several successful albums. In 1994, the Rollins Band released "Weight," which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Band.
In addition to his musical career, Rollins has ventured into acting with appearances in several feature films, including "Bad Boyz II," "Jack Frost," "Johnny Mnemonic" and "Alibi." Rollins also is an accomplished spoken word performer, earning a Grammy Award for 1994's "Get in the Van." Rollins also has written several books, including "Smile. You're Traveling," "Solipsist" and "The Portable Henry Rollins." His voice can be heard as the title character on the Vivendi Universal video game, "Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter."
In February, 2005, Rollins released "Shock and Awe," a DVD where he discusses his eclectic life and his travels around the globe. Although he performs more than 100 shows each year, he makes time to lead 2.13.61, a music and print publishing house, and host "Henry's Film Corner" on the Independent Film Channel.
