Public Broadcasting Anchors Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer to Receive 2005 WHYY Lifelong Learning Award
WHAT: Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer, two of the most respected broadcast journalists in the nation, will receive the WHYY Lifelong Learning Award. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate leadership and devotion to the community and facilitate lifelong learning opportunities.
Terry Gross, host of WHYY's nationally-distributed radio program "Fresh Air," will interview MacNeil and Lehrer during the event.
WHEN/WHERE: Thursday, May 26. Reception at 5:00 p.m. Dinner and program at 6:30 p.m. at WHYY Technology Center, 150 North Sixth Street, Philadelphia.
BACKGROUND: This is the fourth year WHYY has presented the Lifelong Learning Award. Previous recipients are former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell and business leader Charles P. Pizzi. All proceeds from the dinner support WHYY's lifelong learning initiatives.
