Robert Daly Named as an Advisor to Viacom

NEW YORK, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert A. Daly has been named as an advisor to Viacom Inc. (NYSE:VIA)(NYSE:and)(NYSE:VIA.B), it was announced today by Tom Freston, Co-President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Viacom, and Brad Grey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Paramount Pictures. In this newly created non-executive position, Mr. Daly will consult on a number of strategic areas, based on his vast experience in leading entertainment industry organizations, including Warner Bros., Warner Music Group, the Los Angeles Dodgers and CBS Entertainment.

Mr. Freston said, "Sumner and I are thrilled to formalize our relationship with Bob, which really began when I took on responsibility for Paramount Pictures last summer. Brad and I both love working with Bob and we thought it would be great to continue to do so. His experience in the entertainment business in both building and running creative organizations that consistently delivered excellent results will be of tremendous value to us. Mr. Daly said, "I've known and respected both Tom and Brad for many years. They have a clear vision. Mr. Daly headed Warner Bros. from 1980 to 1999 when he stepped down as chairman and co-CEO. Thirteen of the more than 400 major motion picture releases overseen by Daly garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, and three (Chariots of Fire, Driving Miss Daisy and Unforgiven) received Best Picture Oscars. Mr. Daly also had a guiding hand in bringing top-rated, top-quality programming to television, including such acclaimed series as China Beach, ER, Friends and Murphy Brown. Other Daly achievements include pioneering the development and use of DVD; creating the WB Network; being at the forefront of marketing film, TV series and animation on the Internet; and creating a preeminent worldwide distribution operation for film, video, DVD and new technologies. Prior to joining Warner Bros., Daly was at CBS for 25 years, eventually rising to President of CBS Entertainment. After leaving Warner Bros. in 1999, Daly served as Managing Partner, Chairman and CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers until stepping down in February 2004 after the team was sold.

In February 2005, Mr. Daly was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Save the Children, the international charitable organization. Mr. Daly also serves as President of Rulemaker, Inc., an investment consulting company. He sits on the boards of the American Film Institute and the Museum of Television and Radio, and he is a member of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Dean's Advisory Board and the UCLA Executive Board for the Medical Sciences. Born December 8, 1936, he is married to Grammy and Oscar-winning songwriter Carole Bayer Sager.
