Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Burt Reynolds, and Nelly will be among the athletes, actors, musicians, elected officials, and other VIPs that will walk the red carpet prior to the screening. Consistent with the film's football theme, the red carpet will be surrounded by cheerleaders and tailgating fans. Following the screening, event guests will enjoy a spectacular post-screening party. Also attending are some of the real-life athletes who star in the film: NFL great Michael Irvin, Bill Romanowski, and Brian Bosworth, and Indian wrestler Dalip Singh.
"We are honored that Paramount has chosen to benefit 4Sho4Kids with a St. Louis screening of this exciting film," said Chalena Mack, the executive director of The 4Sho4Kids Foundation. "This event will raise funds for our Jes Us 4 Jackie marrow registry campaign, helping leukemia patients everywhere find matches that will extend their lives."
"The Longest Yard" is the story of pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Sandler) and former college champion and coach Nate Scarborough (Reynolds), who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarborough to coach the inmates to victory in a football game "fixed" to turn out quite another way.
4Sho4Kids, a nonprofit foundation started by hip-hop superstar Nelly, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children born with developmental disabilities and children born addicted to drugs. 4Sho4Kids also supports the Jes Us 4 Jackie campaign, a national marrow registry initiative in honor of Nelly's sister, Jackie Donahue, who recently lost her battle with leukemia.
The benefit screening will begin at 4:00PM on Sunday, May 22 at the Tivoli Theater. Tickets for the screening are $100, $250, and $500 with the proceeds benefiting The 4Sho4Kids Foundation.
