DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival Announce 2005 Summer Concert Schedules; 'Love It Live' Like Never Before
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Palace Sports and Entertainment (PS&E) announces the 2005 schedules for DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival (combined schedule attached). As additional tour plans unfold, more shows will be announced. In addition to offering one of the largest and most varied lists of events in the nation, this year's theme, "Love It Live," means PS&E is striving to make the outdoor concert- going experience even more enjoyable.
The ninth largest concert promoter in the world, PS&E is providing a wider choice of affordable shows, concessions specials and combo deals, as well as reintroducing guests to tailgating in the parking lot and bringing in food to picnic on the hill or throughout the venues' beautiful grounds this summer
"There is nothing to compare to the experience of sharing a concert starring your favorite performer on a warm summer night with a friend or loved one; it creates memories which last forever. Summer amphitheatre concerts have been a Michigan institution for several generations and we try to provide a wide variety of events to appeal to our guests' many tastes," said Tom Wilson, President and CEO of PS&E.
"To maintain this outdoor concert tradition in the face of ever-increasing summer activities, we have to provide our guests even more reasons to 'Love It Live,' with more shows offering $10 lawn tickets than ever, value-oriented concessions offers, encouraging pre-show tailgating and welcoming guests to bring in things to make their evenings more comfortable, including food, beach chairs and blankets."
The 2005 summer concert schedule includes an expanded list of events for which all lawn tickets are just $10 (including parking for DTE Energy Music Theatre concerts) covering a variety of entertainment tastes. In the past few years, a limited number of $10 lawn tickets were on sale for select shows at The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre Box Offices in person only. This year, the $10 tickets can be purchased wherever PS&E tickets are sold and will encompass the entire lawn for the shows offered.
To make it easier to "Love It Live," PS&E welcomes tailgating in the parking lot before shows and it offers a picturesque picnic area in Parents Park just outside the two main gates at DTE Energy Music Theatre. It is also reminding guests they are allowed to bring food in picnic baskets or small coolers (no glass items allowed) into the grounds of all three PS&E summer venues. This policy applies for most every show, and guests can visit Palacenet.com or call 248/377-0100 to confirm for each show. Once inside, the picnicking is allowed on the lawn and at any number of tables spread out along the concourses.
Additionally, blankets, binoculars and short-legged/low-backed (26 inch high maximum) beach chairs are welcomed into the grounds for nearly every show (visit Palacenet.com or call 248/377-0100 to confirm for each show).
Centerplate, the venues' concessionaire, will be offering food and drink combo specials on their menu for the first time ever to provide value alternatives for guests. In addition, there will be surprise, themed food and drink specials for a number of shows which will tie into the specific concert (for example, BBQ specials for a country show). These will be announced in advance on Palacenet.com and on the venue's video boards and over it's public address system at the show.
For guests' convenience, PS&E has established a designated drop-off/pick- up area at DTE Energy Music Theatre located conveniently outside and between the two main turnstile entrances at Parents Park. This spot is the easiest, safest and closest spot to the turnstiles which vehicles can access from the Sashabaw Road entrances and these vehicles can be efficiently routed to exit on Pine Knob Road with minimal interruption from ingressing traffic.
Since taking over DTE Energy Music Theatre in 1990, PS&E has added more than $26.5 million in improvements to enhance nearly every inch of the venue for guests highlighted by new restroom areas, new concessions stands including the Hilltop Deck, additional access stairways, introducing video screens and a state-of-the-art audio system.
Guests this summer will enjoy the totally revamped East Entrance plaza which will be renovated to resemble a village of old, complete with a winding pathway past merchant and sponsor displays and product demonstrations. This new "East Village" will have the feel of an old world Alpine hamlet as it provides another area for event-goers to visit before, during and after a show. As an additional venue upgrade, for conservation of natural resources, waterless urinals are being introduced to the men's rooms at each side of the pavilion structure.
Due to the addition of a pavilion roof and sound wall, the schedule for their Macomb County sister venue, Jerome-Duncan Ford Theatre, will not begin until mid-June and will be announced in the near future. For the first time, all three outdoor amphitheatres will be booked by PS&E.
PS&E ownership includes The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre, as well as the management of Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University. Combined, PS&E's Michigan venues average 300 events and 3.5 million guests annually.
The organization recently entered into a corporative agreement to work with Hillside Productions in booking and marketing the Jerome-Duncan Ford Theatre at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
The Palace has been voted Arena of the Year eight times by Performance magazine and twice by Pollstar magazine, also listed annually among North America's top-grossing arenas. Voted "Best Outdoor Concert Venue" in Pollstar's 2000 Readers' Poll, DTE Energy Music Theatre has been listed as the nation's most attended amphitheater by Amusement Business/Billboard each of the 14 years of PS&E ownership.
PS&E also owns the leasehold rights to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. The venue is a 1999 and 2004 recipient of the Prime Site Award by Facilities & Event Management magazine and is one of North America's top- grossing arenas annually.
