Dynamic New Film Examines Racial Tolerance in Contemporary America

SILVER SPRING, Md., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- AFI Silver Theatre will present Academy Award(R) nominee Paul Haggis (MILLION DOLLAR BABY writer/producer) and actor Brendan Fraser (THE QUIET AMERICAN) at a special advance screening of Lions Gate Films' CRASH -- a provocative, unflinching look at the complexities of racial tolerance in contemporary America. This very special advance screening will be presented to the public and Washington, DC, opinion leaders on Sunday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.

A compelling urban drama by screenwriter Paul Haggis in his directorial debut, CRASH dives headlong into the diverse melting pot of post-9/11 Los Angeles. Tracking the volatile intersections of a multi-ethnic cast of characters, the film follows their struggles to overcome their fears as they careen in and out of one another's lives. In the gray area between black and white, victim and aggressor -- where there are no easy answers -- CRASH boldly reminds us of the importance of tolerance as it ventures beyond color lines.

The distinguished cast includes Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer Esposito, William Fichtner, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillippe and Larenz Tate. Scripted by Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco from a story by Haggis, CRASH was produced by Cathy Schulman, Don Cheadle, Bob Yari, Mark R. Harris, Bobby Moresco and Paul Haggis.

The advance screening will be followed by an audience discussion with director Paul Haggis and Brendan Fraser, led by AFI Executive Vice President Jonathan Estrin.
