REO Speedwagon Bassist Shares a Private Song for Fathers and Daughters

REO Speedwagon Bassist Shares a Private Song for Fathers and Daughters

LOS ANGELES, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- There wasn't a dry eye in the house at the wedding of REO Speedwagon's Bruce Hall's daughter Lindsey during the traditional father-daughter dance. Playing through the PA was "My Baby's Wedding Day," a song written by her father for her on her wedding day. What had started 26 years earlier as a melody to be played above her crib on a mobile had brought down the house. "Probably the hardest song I ever wrote," claimed the veteran rocker. "I knew I would be to emotional to sing the song live at the wedding so recording it was my only option." Wife / Mother, Lori and daughter, the wedding planners came up with the idea to give a copy of the song away as a memento for the 400+ guests who attended the wedding reception.

"I started getting requests from people I didn't even know who wanted to find out if they could buy a copy to use at their weddings. At first I was reluctant as the song was so close to my heart and was no longer mine and I really felt it now belonged to Lindsey." A couple of years had passed since the wedding, yet the requests continued. Bruce finally asked Lindsey if it would be all right to share her song with the world. Lindsey agreed saying, "I always felt like I shared you with the world why not share this special song. Our family has always been so close it'll feel good to share it with other fathers and daughters who feel the same."

Bruce and Lindsey decided then any proceeds from the song should go to her children.

As Lindsey went into labor on the 23rd of December, the magic of being a grandfather had captured the rock n roller's heart as Isabella Hope was born on Christmas Eve. The birth was quite the family affair as sister Sara stayed with Lindsey and father-to-be Greg for the beginning stages of labor, joined by birth coach Lori (aka mom & Bruce's wife of 27 years) and dad Bruce aptly named "Grand paparazzi."

"I never thought in a million years that a little wedding song I wrote for my daughter would be something that other couples might enjoy for their wedding day too. And I just love the fact that this beautiful little song is going to bring something helpful and beautiful to my grand daughter ... and just think, maybe she will someday use it in her wedding also, wouldn't that be amazing. Music is truly a magical force."
