StorageTek Names New Vice President and General Manager of Information Lifecycle Management Solutions Group

Former VERITAS Vice President to Lead Key Business Unit, Drive Revenue Growth

LOUISVILLE, Colo., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- StorageTek(R) (Storage Technology Corporation), (NYSE:STK), the leading provider of enterprise information lifecycle management solutions, today announced that Brenda Zawatski will join the company as vice president and general manager of the company's Information Lifecycle Management Solutions (ILMS). Zawatski will join the executive management team under Chairman, President and CEO Pat Martin.

Zawatski will be responsible for strategic messaging and campaigns for all products, solutions and acquisitions for the ILMS customer-driven business unit. Zawatski joins StorageTek as the company prepares to bring the Virtual Storage Manager(R) (VSM(R)) Open solution and the FlexLine(TM) 600 Series capacity-centric storage system, two new highly-anticipated solutions, to the market.

Prior to joining StorageTek, Zawatski served as vice president of Product and Solutions Marketing for VERITAS Software, where she was responsible for strategic messaging and campaigns for all products, solutions and acquisitions as well as for direct management of the company's business and marketing strategy. This included product and solutions strategy, market/customer segmentation, marketing campaigns, product launches and all marketing content in support of the sales organization and external communications.

Prior to joining VERITAS, Zawatski built a distinguished, 20-year career at IBM. Originally a systems analyst and programmer, she developed expertise as a manager of financial planning and pricing before becoming CHQ functional reengineering and systems manager. She then served as Worldwide Strategy and Cost manager of IBM's Storage Systems Group and became executive assistant to the senior vice president of the Server Group. Zawatski then directed IBM's S/390 Enterprise Systems, was promoted to vice president of Removable Media Storage Solutions and completed her career at IBM as vice president of Tivoli Storage Software.

Zawatski holds a bachelor's of science degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Penn State University.
