SiRF Technology to Showcase Innovative New Location-Aware Offerings Powered by SiRFstarIII at 3GSM World Congress
Broad Range of Innovative Consumer and ODM Offerings Take Advantage of SiRFstarIII GPS Architecture's High Performance
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRF), a leading provider of GPS-enabled silicon and software location platforms, will showcase a range of innovative, location-aware customer offerings for wireless operators, consumers and ODMs based on SiRF's third-generation SiRFstarIII(TM) GPS architecture at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France (booth number K14 in Hall 4).
SiRFstarIII architecture, introduced last year, was designed to meet the increasingly high performance requirements for wireless and handheld LBS applications. SiRFstarIII delivers high sensitivity for greater availability in far more environments, and provides superior location performance, both indoors and out. With a time-to-first-fix of less than one second for aided starts, SiRFstarIII makes real-time navigation practical, even through urban canyons and under dense foliage. SiRFstarIII architecture is supported by the company's SiRFLoc Multimode Location Engine -- the first wireless location technology that allows device users to determine their position with or without network aiding, in handset or in network for optimal performance in a wide range of environmental conditions, resulting in greater GPS availability.
"As a developer of wireless devices, MiTAC constantly strives to provide innovation to our customers through leading technologies and form factors. We are excited to incorporate the combination of GPS performance and value of SiRFstarIII in our devices, and believe SiRF will continue to have a significant presence in the market," said Samuel Wang, senior vice president & general manager Mobile Communications Business Unit (MBU) of MiTAC International Corporation.
"Rapid deployment of SiRFstarIII architecture in a wide range of innovative products by our customers is a great step towards meeting the consumer expectation for reliable and accurate location awareness everywhere," said Kanwar Chadha, founder and vice president of marketing at SiRF. "We expect these devices to set a new performance standard for GPS enabled location technology."
