The new communications band provides high speed, point-to-point wireless data links that can handle heavy loads -- a sort of "wireless fiber optic" -- but, since users will share the spectrum with government facilities such as military bases, frequencies must be accurately registered and carefully checked to eliminate any possibility of interference.
