Industry Experts Agree - The Meru WLAN System Remains a Notch Above the Rest

Meru Receives Multiple Industry Accolades for Continuing Innovation and Customer Traction

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Meru Networks, the global leader in converged voice and data WLANs, announced today that it has been awarded its fourth major industry accolade in just four weeks -- further extending its position as a Wi-Fi market leader. The impressive list of awards include: Internet Telephony 2005 Product of the Year, Red Herring Top 100 Innovators, Mobiletrax 2005 Mobility Award, and SearchNetworking.com's 2004 Product of the Year Award in the category of "WLAN equipment and applications."

"Meru is simply executing on our promise to deliver standards-compliant WLANs capable of supporting voice and data on a single wireless network," explained Kamal Anand, vice president of marketing for Meru Networks. "That is what our customers ask for because it provides current and future voice and data needs with a far lower cost of ownership. We are honored that the Meru WLAN System with E(z)RF has been recognized by so many independent organizations."

Meru's has garnered such distinction because its breakthrough WLAN System features:

-- Elimination of Complex RF Design: By coordinating all traffic on the network, Meru's E(z)RF eliminates co-channel interference and removes complex RF planning and management tasks. Even the largest of WLAN deployments can be accomplished with a one-step planning process.

-- Over-the-air QoS: Meru's over-the-air Quality of Service (QoS) feature ensures high quality voice and data service to all Wi-Fi clients on the same infrastructure, reducing installation costs and providing ongoing ROI.

-- Zero Handoff: Recent tests have shown that typical WLAN systems can cause delays of 500ms to 1 second rendering VoIP service impossible. The Meru WLAN System coordinates traffic on the Wi-Fi network, eliminating handoff delays.

-- Standard Wi-Fi Compliance: The Meru WLAN system operates using the 802.11 standard for wireless networking. Meru access points are Wi-Fi certified and bring all of Meru's industry-leading voice and data performance improvements to any Wi-Fi certified client.

Thanks to Meru's centralized control appliance (the Meru Controller), access points can be placed anywhere on the network, regardless of IP subnet, and will automatically find the Controller and begin their coordinated operation. No network reconfigurations are required.

"This recognition by industry experts is indicative of the strong market acceptance of Meru's solution in the rapidly growing Wi-Fi market," said Ihab Abu-Hakima, Meru's CEO. "As the only WLAN vendor to enable truly pervasive wireless coverage with guaranteed quality of service for data and voice in large-scale environments, Meru continues to set the bar for WLAN performance."

Internet Telephony 2005 Product of the Year

Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC(R))'s INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) magazine has named Meru's WLAN System with E(z)RF as a recipient of a 2004 Product of the Year Award. INTERNET TELEPHONY has been the VoIP Authority Since 1998(TM).

Meru has demonstrated to the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY that its products or services are committed to quality and innovation while addressing the real needs in the marketplace," said Rich Tehrani, group publisher and editor-in-chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY.

Red Herring Top 100 Innovators

Meru's selection for the Red Herring Top 100 Innovators Award recognizes Meru's innovation in wireless LAN convergence technologies in a market where most products are based on commodity-level hardware. Red Herring's editorial staff evaluated over 1200 submissions from 900 companies. The editors used a careful analysis of financial data as well as subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.

"Selection as a Top 100 Innovator puts a company in an elite group," said Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring. "Our editors worked hard to identify the companies that will benefit from the important technology trends in the coming year."
