GoingGone Introduces Progressive Pricing Clearance Solution

GoingGone Introduces Progressive Pricing Clearance Solution

Branded Online Outlet to Drive Traffic and Cash-Flow for Louis Shanks Furniture of Texas

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- GoingGone, Inc. today announced the launch of GoingGone Progressive Pricing Showroom service (PPS) that retailers use to attract and engage internet shoppers in the local market for furniture, automobiles, jewelry and other major durable goods.

GoingGone PPS is a web-application that lets retailers list and regularly re-price individual clearance items available for sale locally while letting shoppers find, watch, and reserve products using the internet. By using progressive pricing and the implied risk-of-loss in individual clearance offers, GoingGone generates buying energy and repeat traffic from online shoppers.

GoingGone PPS is designed for use as either a stand-alone branded web-site or as a component of an existing internet site. The system lists items in eight categories with special quick links for "recently-reduced" and "newest- items". Customers can set up "price watches" and be emailed when an item they are interested in is reduced. If a customer wishes to purchase an item, she can place the item on "hold" on the site and then visit the local retailer to review and purchase the item.

"For the most part, local retailers aren't getting their share of the advantages of internet advertising and promotion," says David Droman, founder and president of GoingGone. "Local retailers' web-sites, if any, don't change much so they don't attract any attention or re-visits. With GoingGone PPS, items and prices are changing almost every day which creates an environment that gets online shoppers to come visit initially and to come back often."

Louis Shanks Furniture of Texas today launched ShanksOutlet.Com which is a custom branded outlet site using GoingGone's PPS system. The company is initially launching the service in the Austin market but expects to roll the service out to its Houston and San Antonio stores in the coming months. The company is promoting the virtual outlet site along-side its traditional brick- and-mortar business.

"More and more, customers are coming into our showrooms after first researching products on the internet. We want to reach those customers earlier in their product search," says Mike Forwood, president of Louis Shanks Furniture. "ShanksOutlet.Com gives us a place to communicate our most attractive deals to folks who are interested in buying furniture but who haven't made it into our showrooms yet."

GoingGone PPS is distinct from other online e-shopping systems in that it is primarily used by commercial retailers and targeted for products that either don't ship well, or which customers need to see and feel in person. GoingGone retailers typically sell large, expensive, or highly personal items that are too costly to ship -- or too difficult to determine the quality of -- over the internet.

"GoingGone PPS lets retailers maximize the promotional value of each and every clearance item," says Droman. "Most retailers underestimate the value they have in close-out, demo, or clearance merchandise -- oftentimes cannibalizing higher-margined in-store sales with lower margined clearance products. We use that merchandise as a magnet in the local internet market to attract and motivate local shoppers who otherwise might never connect with our customer retailer."
