The Nominations Are In! Best Oscar(R) Hair Will Go To ... Award-Winning, International Hairstylist Marc Anthony Weighs in on the Nominees Crowning Glory
NEW YORK, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The fabulous news is just settling in. Oscar(R) has called on 5 lovely women to showcase their amazing work during the February 27, 2005 telecast. 5 bodies of work, 5 reasons to vote, only 1 Oscar(R)-worthy performance.
The stakes are high. The dresses are being pulled. The jewels are being distributed. But what to do with the hair???
International award winning hair stylist and product developer Marc Anthony has over 20 years of experience as a leading innovator and trendsetter in the beauty industry. As the exclusive Red Carpet '05 hair stylist, Marc offers some tips to the leading ladies to be sure her hair style is as critically acclaimed as her performance.
Hilary Swank - "Million Dollar Baby"
Hilary has the most amazing face, she can carry anything .... from short to long. I would soften it up a little for the big night. A messy, pincurl set would give her soft waves and keep her looking current rather than too retro. It's actually long enough at the back that it would look charming up as well. A loose updo with a bit of volume.
Annette Bening - "Being Julia"
Annette's short hair has become a trademark that works. A big barrel curling iron would frame her face softly and give her a more polished finish for evening.
Imelda Staunton - "Vera Drake"
Ms. Staunton has amazing eyes -- a soft, croppy look would bring them out. I would like to see her with a short modern look -- lots of movement and framing the face to show off those sexy eyes!
Kate Winslet - "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
Kate has the best hair, full and the colour is so perfect for right now. I would love to see her in long soft pretty waves, even adding some length for the night, just for fun.
Catalina Sandino Moreno - "Maria, Full of Grace"
I'd love to see Catalina push up her level of sophistication. As a new girl in Hollywood she has not had the chance to play dress up much yet. I would love to put in hot rollers and then just let it tumble down her shoulders. The front could be pinned back so we don't hide those beautiful dark eyes of hers.
And lest we forget about the men, Marc offers his words of wisdom to some of the favorites be sure they are Red Carpet-ready.
Johnny Depp - "Finding Neverland"
Johnny Depp is one of those men that defy the trends. It's worked well for him in the past and continues to do so. The sexy "just-got-out-of-bed" thing is so natural on him I wouldn't change it too much. More layers to give it a shaggier finish and to keep his look hip and still quirky, I'd suggest adding some tone on tone highlights.
Leonardo DiCaprio - "The Aviator"
I have not seen Leonardo with longer hair in a while. I think it would be a good look for him. Add In some layers and keep it as long as we could. Some warm blonde just on the ends would give him a youthful, sexy look.
Clint Eastwood - "Million Dollar Baby"
Mr. Eastwood is, well .... an icon. His hair in "Million Dollar Baby" was perfectly modern. I don't think I would change a thing about him. He is just perfect. He's just Clint.
