Chicago Standouts Named to 2005 McDonald's All American Boys Team(TM)
Wright and Frasor Set to Play in 28th Annual Game at The University of Notre Dame
CHICAGO, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Julian Wright of Homewood-Flossmoor High School and Bobby Frasor of Brother Rice High School will join the ranks of the basketball elite, as they have been chosen to participate in the 2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Game(R) as members of the West squad.
As McDonald's All American Game(R) team members, Julian Wright and Bobby Frasor will play among the top 24 male high school basketball players in the nation. Wright, a team leader known for his highlight plays and defensive presence, has an average of 14 points-per-game and eight rebounds-per-game this season and led his team to the 2004 Illinois state finals. Wright plans to continue his athletic success at Kansas University. Frasor, considered one of the nation's top guards in the 2005 class because of his quickness, ball handling and court-vision, has a 21 points-per-game average this season and plans to attend the University of North Carolina in the fall.
This year's Game, which marks year 28 of the McDonald's All American Game for boys, will be played Wednesday, March 30 at the University of Notre Dame's Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind. The Boys Game will broadcast LIVE on ESPN during primetime at 8:00 p.m. (EST). And, for the fourth year, McDonald's is hosting a Girls Game to spotlight outstanding high school female athletes as well. The Girls Game tips of at 5:30 p.m. (EST) and will broadcast on ESPN2 (March 31 at 5:00 p.m.).
Net proceeds from both Games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) Chapters of South Bend and Fort Wayne, Ind. The Ronald McDonald House(R) program has provided a "home-away-from-home" for millions of family members of seriously ill children since its inception in 1974.
McDonald's All American(TM) alumni include such current and former NBA and NCAA superstars as Michael Jordan (retired) and Magic Johnson (retired), Kevin Garnett (Minnesota Timberwolves), Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets) and LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), as well as Dee Brown (Illinois), Chris Thomas (Notre Dame) and Rashad McCants (North Carolina).
Julian Wright is the son of Gina Wright from Chicago Heights, Ill. Bobby Frasor is the son of Bob and Donna Frasor from Blue Island, Ill.
