CA Withdraws From Consortium of Anti-Spyware Technology Vendors

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE:CA) announced today that it has withdrawn from the Consortium of Anti-Spyware Technology Vendors (COAST).

"We are withdrawing from COAST because we believe the organization no longer has the ability to create a consensus for effective anti-spyware standards," said Sam Curry, vice president of eTrust security management at CA. "We remain committed to working with other vendors and researchers to create standards that will improve the security and usability of the Internet for all."

CA continues to participate in standards bodies and organizations that help users leverage technologies from multiple vendors to achieve security and other IT management objectives.

CA acquired PestPatrol in August 2004 and in November released r5 of eTrust Pest Patrol Anti-Spyware in packages for consumers, small and medium businesses, and larger enterprises. More than one million people use eTrust Pest Patrol Anti-Spyware worldwide.
