Greater Dallas Chamber's Technology Business Council to Present Cyber Threats Issues Forum

DALLAS, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chamber's Technology Business Council's (TBC) first quarter Issues Forum, Addressing Cyber Threats of the 21st Century, is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 7:30 AM - 2 PM at The Hotel Adolphus (1321 Commerce Street, Dallas, TX 75202). This forum will provide solutions and best practices for the pressing cyber threats of 2005 to Dallas-area technology professionals. The event is open to the public. Panel and lunch tickets are $75 for members and $150 for non-members. Over 300 attendees are anticipated to attend.

Sponsored by InfoDefense, Intrusion and Sun Microsystems, the Forum includes a keynote luncheon and panel discussions on: Regulatory Compliance, Cyber Law (running concurrently from 8:30 - 10:00 AM), Spam/Spyware and Justifying Information Security Expenditures (running concurrently from 10:15 - 11:45 AM).

Spam/Spyware panelist, Lieutenant Colonel Edward J. Morris, Jr.; Commander, 1114th Signal Battalion; Directorate of Information Management; US Army at Fort Hood will speak on "Winning the Cyber War in America". Like many commercial organizations today, the US Army is under constant threat from cyber attacks originating from an increasingly growing and often, hard-to- detect enemy.

The Army is fighting many types of attacks including computer viruses, worms, denial-of-service attacks and more recently, internet-based spyware infections. To engage the enemy and win the cyber-space battleground, the US Army is deploying state-of-the-art tools, training and techniques.

Other noteworthy panelists include industry experts from: The U.S. Attorney's office, InfoDefense, Hotels.com, Perot Systems, ISSA, Haynes and Boone LLP, Intrusion, Winstead Seacrest & Minick P.C., U.S. Secret Service and Lockwood Greene.

The luncheon will also feature a keynote address from Bob Worrall, vice president of IT, Sun Microsystems, Inc. Worrall is currently responsible for developing business and financial plans for the organization, managing strategic vendor relationships and building a comprehensive portfolio management strategy.

In his thirteen-year career at Sun, Worrall has held several senior positions within IT. Most recently Sun has utilized his expertise to support application and technology needs for Sun's global sales force, web-based sales and e-commerce division.
