WholeSecurity Selected as Finalist for SC Magazine Global Awards 2005
Web Caller-ID Honored for Its Innovative Anti-Phishing Technology in the 'Best Security Solution 2005' Category
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- WholeSecurity, the leading provider of behavioral, on-demand endpoint security solutions, today announced that its Web Caller-ID(TM) product has been selected as a finalist for the "Best Security Solution 2005" award, one of three prestigious Principal Awards presented by SC Magazine. Web Caller-ID is among only six finalists, which were announced last week after transatlantic judges made their final decisions based on superior product design and strong customer testimonials.
Now in its ninth year, the SC Magazine Awards program is known as the leading ceremony for recognizing technical and professional excellence in the information security industry around the world. More than 900 products and services from nearly 300 technology developers across 26 countries were nominated for the 2004 awards. Winners for this year's awards will be announced during the RSA(R) Conference on February 16, 2005 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco as part of a black-tie affair.
WholeSecurity's Web Caller-ID provides zero-hour protection against phishing attacks, a type of online fraud designed to steal personal information, such as user names, passwords, credit card numbers, or bank account information. In a phishing scam, criminals use emails and Web sites that mimic those from popular brands to encourage Internet users to unwittingly divulge sensitive information. According to leading research firms and independent organizations, these attacks grew exponentially in frequency in the last year.
To fight phishing, Web Caller-ID uses proven behavioral technology to analyze the characteristics of a Web page to determine if it is fraudulent. The technology can be incorporated into an Internet browser toolbar to deliver real-time warnings to consumers before they can visit phishing sites or can be used in the back office to identify phishing sites included in email streams. Web Caller-ID currently powers the AccountGuard feature of the eBay/PayPal toolbar.
WholeSecurity will be exhibiting at the RSA Conference in booth #230. WholeSecurity's Chief Technical Officer, Tony Alagna, is scheduled to speak at RSA on February 16 on a panel entitled "Protecting Your Network with Scan and Block Technology for Endpoints."
