Grassroots Communications Debuts Rich-Media Conferencing System at Seattle Area Marriott Hotels

PALM DESERT, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Grassroots Communications, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Newport International Group Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: NWPO) today announced that it is implementing a two-phase Pilot Program in two Seattle area hotels. Grassroots has delivered and installed its Meeting Suite rich media conferencing system at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront and Redmond Marriott Town Center.

The Meeting Suite system enables teams in disparate geographical locations to work together in a shared virtual meeting space. Additionally, it is mobile, creating the option of transforming any Internet-wired meeting room into a high-tech conference room, all without the expense of hardwiring. Meeting Suite is built with the business traveler in mind. It supports rich media conferencing software, which enables audio, video and full multimedia streaming in real-time. The system is enclosed in a durable hard case with wheels. It includes a 50" plasma screen and whiteboard, a dedicated high-speed server running Windows XP Pro, a wireless keyboard, an echo-canceling microphone and high-quality audio and video components.

Under Phase One of the Pilot Program, the hotel staffs will have exclusive access to Meeting Suite for conferencing and collaboration among remote Marriott locations. Under Phase Two, Marriott Seattle will make Meeting Suite available to its visitors and conference room clients.
