Since the Western Angus Steak Burger was introduced at more than 7,800 BURGER KING(R) restaurants in the United States on Jan. 21, 2005, the new burger has held its own against the company's other popular 100 percent Angus beef burgers -- The Angus Steak Burger and Angus Bacon Cheddar Ranch Steak Burger -- with the Western Angus Steak Burger comprising almost 20 percent of all Angus burger sales.
"The enthusiastic response to the Western Angus Steak Burger demonstrates that we've reached consumers on a new level," says Russ Klein, chief marketing officer of Burger King Corporation. "At BURGER KING, we don't just sell burgers. Our HAVE IT YOUR WAY(R) philosophy is about empowerment and connecting to our customers in ways relevant to their lives. What could be more relevant than letting them taste the sandwich they saw created on TV just the night before?"
The winning Western Angus Steak Burger sandwich features 1/3-pound 100 percent Angus beef, natural cheddar cheese, tangy barbecue sauce, crispy onion rings, fresh lettuce and tomato on a corn-dusted bun.
