Combining the Power of the Enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network With Sybase Mobile Software Helps Empower the Mobile Workforce With Real-Time Access to Critical Business Information

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on a commitment to expand its capabilities and product offering in the high-growth wireless business market, Sprint (NYSE:FON) announced today it has signed an agreement with Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY) to provide a wide range of Sybase(R) mobile technology applications that enable the secure delivery of data to mobile devices via the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. These solutions are being jointly marketed and sold through Sprint and Sybase business sales channels and are designed to enable business customers to mobilize existing corporate information systems or develop customized applications for their mobile workforce.

Under terms of the agreement, Sprint and Sybase, along with its wholly owned subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions, will initially offer solutions targeted at the financial services, insurance, healthcare, government and education segments, including iAnywhere(R) Mobile Sales(TM) and Mobile Pharma(TM) applications and the previously announced Sprint Mobile Loan Officer and Sprint Mobile Claims Adjustor. Business customers can equip their mobile workers to take advantage of these productivity-enhancing solutions using select Palm OS or Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices certified to operate on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network, including the recently introduced Sprint PCS Vision Smart Device Treo(TM) 650 by palmOne and the Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Smart Device PPC-6601.
