PLEASANTON, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- IronPlanet (www.ironplanet.com), the third-largest heavy equipment auction company in North America, completed 2004 with a record-breaking sale of $7.7 million of equipment and trucks.

The December 16 sale drew over 8,000 registered auction attendees with bidders from all 50 States and 20 countries. Among the 482 equipment items sold were 34 backhoes, 72 lifts, and 45 skid steer loaders, as well as, compactors, dozers, excavators, wheel loaders and on-road trucks.

In 2004, IronPlanet held online auctions every other week, plus additional one-owner sales. Each auction attracted more than 5,000 registered bidders from North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Africa and over 70 countries.

IronPlanet also worked with a record number of consignors in 2004, with close to 300 new sellers and over 400 repeat sellers.
